We’ve launched a new report on community-scale funding needs in the Torres Strait Islands.
The report found that despite exacerbating climate and environmental challenges, there is little funding reaching the Torres Strait Islands, and communities face barriers to accessing wider climate finance, as current funding mechanisms are often complex, slow and misaligned with local needs.
The report, launched at a recent event bringing together frontline leaders from across the Australia-Pacific, highlights the barriers communities face in accessing climate finance. It explores opportunities to strengthen funding pathways that support community-led solutions, ensuring resources flow directly to those on the frontlines of climate change.
This research is part of Climates’ broader commitment to enabling accessible, community-driven finance, including through initiatives like KATO, the Pacific Community Climate Fund—designed by community, for community.
